Eurovision Ballerina Hippo

AG’s paternal grandparents went on a cruise down the Danube earlier this year. They brought back a singing, dancing, ballerina hippo for AG.

I had assumed the song was some sort of German folk song, for, as you can tell, it is difficult to discern the lyrics. But some of them kept jumping out at us: “wedding bells, wishing wells,” “remind me of you,” and so I had to Google this to find out what it was.

VoilĂ ! The winner of 1970’s Eurovision contest:

Man, I love Eurovision.

Coincidentally, Paul just turned on the television to “America’s Ballroom Challenge – International Latin.” Those costumes – woah. I think I’ve got to watch Simply Ballroom again.

Edited to add: I should’ve warned you – you’ll be singing this song for days now.
