I’ve been meaning to beef up my “About” page for ages (it read, “TBD” for three years), and either didn’t want to take the time, or couldn’t decide really what my focus is with this blog. I’m still not convinced that I have reached the point where I know the answers to these questions, but … Day 1 of WordPress’s Daily Post Zero to Hero challenge is to introduce myself, and that seemed as good an excuse as any to fix up this page.
From the challenge:
To help you get started, here are a few questions you might answer in the post:
- Why are you blogging, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout 2014, what would you hope to have accomplished?
I’m blogging, rather than keeping a personal journal, because I’m a complete failure at keeping a personal journal. When I was in my early teens, I tried to do it every single year (oh, so many romantic, floral-patterned covers of blank-lined books that I still have!), and never kept it up more than a few weeks in a row. And looking back on them makes me cringe. I mean, I know everybody says that, but I ripped out the pages with writing on them and gave the blank books to my kiddo. I’m not much better at keeping a blog, truth be told, but I’ve managed to keep coming back to this for a few years now.
I think I’ll write primarily about the following topics:
- photography (okay, that’s a cop-out. I post pictures, I don’t write about photography)
- fashion (well, items of clothing that I like. I guess this should really read, “my style”)
- law librarianship
- educational technology
There’s not a whole lot connecting all those topics (except the last two), which I realize might be off-putting to some, but them’s the breaks.
I would love to connect with … well, anybody? I mean, in a non-creepy way. I suspect I will mostly be connecting with people who are interested in the things I list above. Which largely means other librarians. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
If I blog successfully throughout 2014, I hope to have accomplished a more continual presence. Not dropping out for months at a time. I’m really not trying to be much more ambitious than that.
