I kind of really like this wrap dress from Garnet Hill, don’t you? So effortlessly chic. Although wrap dresses and skirts can be kind of iffy on the wrapping side of things. Does it really wrap, or does it gap? Anyway, I like the idea of pairing it with those bright orange pumps, even though I could never wear such shoes in real life. And I love the bag. And, of course, there’s a return of my lately-coveted specs. Thoughts?
This is based on an actual outfit that I actually wore to a movie a few weeks ago (Thor: Thor Returns, or whatever it was called. It was fun, despite my sort of making fun of the name). My dress is actually prettier than this, I think. It’s this print, but the cut and shape of the dress is more like this. The material is sort of silky and soft; it really feels nice.
It’s really more of a fall dress, but we’re way past fall and I was just dying to wear it.
Aren’t those glasses (in the teal/green combo) gorgeous? I really want them.
You guys, I love this skirt SO much. It’s soft, it’s silky, it’s got great flow and drape … Supposedly you can wear it 14 different ways, but apparently that includes tying the tie on different sides of your body (as two of the 14 different ways) and wearing it as a dress (which gives it too much of a 70’s tube top feel to me, although I could see it as a beach cover-up) … I’m happy to just wear it as a regular old skirt. It’s also reversible, and has some pretty contrasting stitching that becomes visible when you do that. So, it’s a great skirt for traveling, is what I’m saying.
The shirt doesn’t look like much in this photo, but it’s very flattering; it’s got the cross-over cut that I like so much. These wedge flip-flops make you feel like you’re walking along the beach. They’re Tevas, but they feel kind of insubstantial, so just be aware of that.
I find myself on a sporty chic kick lately.
I wore this dress on Tuesday; had a recent order from Athleta come in. The skirt is nice; breezy, light, soft, and comfortable. It’s also supposedly reversible, but then you don’t see the print, which is one of the things I like about it, and, in the color I chose, the reversible version is kind of a drab army green.
I also really like the shoes, although I will caution those of you who (1) don’t like the feeling of material between your toes and (2) don’t like the feeling that your shoes might fall off. I have some issues with the Chacos that have criss-crossed straps – I’m never quite sure I’ve got them tightened the right way, exactly. But I thought these were so cute, that I decided to make a go of them anyway. (And the feeling that they might fall off did eventually go away).
I totally covet that cuff. I don’t think it’s available anymore, but I think I might look for something like it. I bet it makes the wearer feel like Wonder Woman, which is usually what I’m going for when putting together a look.
This is an outfit you can wear when you think an impromptu beach volleyball game might break out at work.
I am actually wearing this skirt today. I just purchased it. It’s from Horny Toad, and they have a guarantee policy where, if you don’t get a compliment on one of their articles of clothing within three wearings, you can return it. So, I’ll be on the lookout for those compliments, guys!
One of my favorite catalogs, Boden, is having a sale. Naturally, I purchased some items, one of which was this dress (it was even more on sale yesterday, when I purchased it). I’m a little wary, because often Boden’s v-necks are a little deep for me, but I have high hopes for this. Am currently hoping to wear it at my XX high school reunion, coming up in August.
This is actually exactly what I’m wearing today (different jewelry). The shirt and skirt are from Green 3 Apparel; I’ve written about them before. They’re having a free shipping deal this weekend; check ’em out! Their graphic t’s are especially awesome. Soft, bright colors, good fit. I recommend ’em.
Blogging will be a little light the next few days while I’m enjoying some much-needed sister time in Yakima, WA. But I had this outfit idea kicking around in my Polyvore set for a while and figured I’d share it. Also – those are my new glasses! Mine are blue, if you click on the link and it brings you to the black ones. I’m very excited about them.
